What is joint pain?
A joint is an area where two bones meet. Joint pain is discomfort coming from that area. Joint pain can range from mildly uncomfortable to severely debilitating.
What causes joint pain?
There are many causes of joint pain but some causes of joint pain include:
- Arthritis
- Cancer
- Broken bone (fracture)
- Dislocation
- Lupus
- Lyme Disease
- Ricketts
- Injury affecting any of the ligaments, bursae, or tendons surrounding or within the joint.
Where can joint pain occur?
Joint pain can occur in any joint including:
- Elbow
- Wrist
- Hand
- Shoulder
- Knees
- Ankles
- Feet
- Neck
What are the treatment options for joint pain?
Treatments for joint pain depend on the cause of the joint pain. However, joint pain treatments may include the following:
- NSAIDs (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)
- Heat and cold
- Injections
- Physical therapy
